During the match between Al-Ahli Jeddah and their host Al-Qadsiah, which ended in a 1-3 defeat for the Jeddah team last Friday, an altercation occurred between goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais and Al-Qadsiah officials in an unfortunate scene.
Cameras captured the moment of Al-Ahli's goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais reacting angrily at the end of the match, trying to ascend to the Al-Qadsiah stand to confront a member who had made provocative remarks towards him during the match. This is described as a farce in every sense. It is hoped that there will be a strict decision to put an end to such unacceptable transgressions under any circumstances.
The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced the punishment of Mohammed Al-Owais in an official statement via their website, where the goalkeeper was suspended for two matches and fined 20,000 Riyals due to his attempt to assault an Al-Qadsiah official after the match, based on the match observer's report, in a decision that is not subject to appeal.
Additionally, committee imposed a one-match suspension and a fine of 10,000 Riyals on Al-Qadsiah official Mohammed Al-Saleh for insulting Al-Owais. It is worth mentioning that the committee decided to suspend Khalid Al-Murshid, an official from Al-Qadsiah, for three matches and fined him 20,000 Riyals after being proven to have used offensive language towards Al-Ahli’s goalkeeper.
