China Gifts Lebanon 50,000 Doses of Sinopharm Vaccine

The Chinese government has decided to gift 50,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine to Lebanon to assist in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Ki-Jian explained that, based on a request from the Lebanese side, the Chinese government has decided to donate 50,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine to help Lebanon fight the coronavirus outbreak. In a related context, the head of the Lebanese Order of Physicians in Beirut, Professor Sharaf Abu Sharaf, urged citizens to consistently apply preventive measures in communities, shops, and homes, in light of the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions against COVID-19. He called on all media outlets to continue the awareness campaign initiated to encourage the public to adhere to these measures and avoid any violations to prevent the severe consequences that may arise, especially considering the overcrowding of hospitals with COVID-19 patients, particularly in intensive care units.

Abu Sharaf pointed out that there is a high public demand for the vaccine, which is the best treatment for the COVID-19 pandemic, having proven to be safe and effective. He expressed hope that the somewhat chaotic performance that characterized the initial vaccination phase would stop and that transparency and fairness would be clearly respected, following the priorities set by the national vaccination committee and registering on the ministerial platform.

The head of the physicians emphasized that importing vaccines through the state and increasing their numbers and diversity would significantly contribute to vaccinating as many citizens as possible and at the required speed, aiming to create community immunity and return to a normal economic and health life. Abu Sharaf concluded by asserting that through our solidarity, cooperation, and awareness of the seriousness of this phase, we can halt the rising count of complications and deaths resulting from the pandemic. Yesterday, plastic surgeon Edward Abed Nour passed away after contracting the virus, fulfilling his mission as a martyr alongside other martyrs.
