Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a historic housing budget of 65 billion dirhams ($18 billion) for the next twenty years for citizens in the Emirate of Dubai. The Ruler of Dubai directed that the number of beneficiaries from the housing program in Dubai be quadrupled starting this year, and that the land allocated for housing citizens in Dubai be doubled to reach 1.7 billion square feet, sufficient to meet the needs of citizens for the next twenty years.

These directives from Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum come as part of efforts to complete the developmental and urban model of the Emirate of Dubai, enhancing the quality of life for citizens and cementing Dubai's status as the best city to live in worldwide. The Ruler emphasized during the announcement of the new housing plans that "decent housing is dignity... and a right for all... and the respectable life for the sons of the nation is the top priority of government work." He stated, "The government housing program will be under my personal follow-up... and Hamdan and Maktoum will continuously oversee the housing plan for citizens."

He added, "Our goal is for Dubai to be the best city to live in the world... and developing residential areas for citizens is the most important part of this vision." In turn, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, affirmed the priority and importance of unifying efforts to implement the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, which was approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to anticipate the future of cities and seek solutions and future housing needs that ensure family stability and guarantee a decent life for our people over the coming decades.

The Crown Prince of Dubai said, "The individual is the focus of our government plans that aim to enhance the quality of life," adding that the directives reflect the government's commitment to providing suitable housing for citizens to strengthen family stability and ensure their social security. The citizen is our main concern, and our goal is for the citizen to always feel safe and prosperous in their present and future.

The Dubai Urban Plan 2040 outlines a comprehensive roadmap for achieving sustainable urban development in Dubai, centering on the individual and aiming to enhance the quality of life and global competitiveness of the emirate. It contributes to providing various options for citizens, residents, and visitors over the next twenty years. The plan includes a strategic structural blueprint for the emirate for the next twenty years, integrating with all main urban development plans of the emirate, and supporting its future growth and development.
