The Nurses and Nurse Assistants Syndicate in Lebanon has called for the establishment of a preemptive plan to ensure the resilience of healthcare workers, particularly nurses, nurse assistants, and doctors, in the fight against the pandemic while awaiting the vaccination phase.
According to the National News Agency, the syndicate issued a statement today urging citizens to adhere to preventive measures and guidelines, also advocating for a preemptive plan for the resilience of healthcare workers, especially nurses, nurse assistants, and doctors, in the battle against the pandemic until the vaccination phase begins. The syndicate demanded that all available material and logistical resources be provided to the nursing and medical staff who are in direct and daily contact with the danger and deserve all support and attention to continue the fight and emerge from it with the least possible losses for the Lebanese people.
Additionally, the syndicate called for an increase in the number of nurses in hospitals, encouraging and supporting them with exceptional allocations to ensure that the nursing staff is sufficient to cope with the upcoming phase and to perform their duties to the fullest extent, away from fatigue and exhaustion.
The syndicate proposed granting public hospitals exceptional permission to contract with nurses and nurse assistants outside the established procedures to enhance their nursing staff, especially as hospitals are being converted exclusively for COVID-19 patients, necessitating specialized expertise and sufficient numbers to meet the anticipated needs.
Furthermore, there is a need for a preemptive plan for the resilience of all workers in the healthcare sector, particularly nurses, nurse assistants, and doctors, in the battle against the pandemic while awaiting the vaccination phase, as they represent the backbone and essential element in overcoming the health crisis.
The syndicate hopes that the Lebanese people will recognize the seriousness of the health phase and regard it as a collective national responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of everyone, starting from the obligation to adhere to strict measures and preventive guidelines, foremost among them avoiding gatherings to limit the spread of infection, especially after the devastating consequences of negligence during the holiday season were evident.
