The Board of Directors of the Union of Arab Banks held its 31st meeting for the term 2022 - 2025 in Cairo on Thursday. The agenda included the election of a president, two vice presidents, and members of the board, in accordance with Article Four of the Union’s statutes. The attendees unanimously elected Dr. Joseph Torbey, Chairman and General Manager of the Lebanese Bank of Credit, as the president of the Union.
Dr. Imad Jawad Boukhamsin, Vice President of Boukhamsin Holding Group, was elected as Vice President of the Union for Arab Affairs, while Othman Benjelloun, President of the Moroccan Banking Professional Group, was elected as Vice President of the Union for Diaspora Affairs.
The new board of the Union, whose term spans three years from 2022 to 2025, is composed as follows:
- Dr. Joseph Torbey, Chairman and General Manager of the Lebanese Bank of Credit (Lebanon) - President of the Union.
- Dr. Imad Jawad Boukhamsin, Vice President of Boukhamsin Holding Group (Kuwait) - Vice President of the Union for Arab Affairs.
- Othman Benjelloun, President of the Moroccan Banking Professional Group (Morocco) - Vice President of the Union for Diaspora Affairs.
The council also elected the following members:
- Sheikh Mohammed Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Chairman of the International Bank of Kuwait (Kuwait).
- Tarek Fayed, Chairman of Cairo Bank (Egypt).
- Sheikh Ahmed Daij Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Union of Banks of Kuwait and the Commercial Bank of Kuwait (Kuwait).
- Abdul Mohsen Al-Faris, Board Member of Al-Inma Bank (Saudi Arabia).
- Abdul Razzaq Al-Tarhouni, Chairman of the Republic Bank and the President of the Libyan Banks Union (Libya).
- Ziad Khalaf, Chairman of the International Development Bank (Iraq).
- Ahmed Hamid Al-Dhib, Chief Executive Officer of KAC International Bank (Djibouti).
- Mohammed Wajih Al-Bizri, Chairman of the Lebanese Islamic Bank and President of the International Chamber of Commerce in Lebanon (Lebanon).
- Khulood Al-Saqaf, Chairwoman of the Social Security Investment Fund (Jordan).
- Dr. Marwan Awad, General Manager of Al-Awwal International for Consulting and Arbitration (Jordan).
- Mona Said Qatoufi, Representative of the Tunisian Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (Tunisia).
- Joseph Nasnas, Regional Director of "Bank of Cairo Amman" (Palestine).
- Mohammed Jamil Baro, Managing Director and CEO of Emirates NBD Egypt (Egypt).
