In Ajman: Arab Young Woman Stabs Her Mother-in-Law Multiple Times with Intent to Kill

The Ajman Criminal Court sentenced the defendant (M.A.), 21 years old, of Arab nationality, for attempting, with premeditation, to kill her mother-in-law while she slept, by delivering four knife stabs with the intent to take her life. The intervention of the victim's son, who witnessed part of the tragedy, was crucial in saving his mother's life. The court also ordered the defendant to be deported from the country after serving her sentence.

The facts indicate that the defendant, who is the wife of the victim's son, decided to kill her mother-in-law following disputes between them. She stalked her and went to the kitchen at night, retrieved a knife, and waited for her to fall asleep. She then entered the victim's room and stabbed her in various parts of her body, causing injuries that made the victim call for her son, who lives with her in an apartment in Ajman. He rushed to her aid and saved her from the brink of death.

The defendant's husband stated in the public prosecution investigations that he was sleeping in the apartment he shares with his wife and mother, and was surprised by his mother's screams calling for him. He hurried to her room and saw his wife standing next to his mother, who was in a difficult state covered in blood, being stabbed. After that, she turned towards him and collapsed on the floor, pretending to faint. He woke her up, took her to an adjacent room, locked the door, and then returned to his mother before calling for ambulance and police assistance.

In her testimony during the public prosecution investigation, the victim said she had been sitting with her son and his wife until late at night, then went to her room after dawn and fell asleep. She was startled by a pain in her back, and when she turned around, she found the defendant stabbing her with a knife, which made her scream for her son. The defendant confessed to the crime.
