In Egypt: A Brother Kills, Dismembers, and Disposes of His Brother's Body in Trash

An Egyptian barber killed his elder brother, dismembered his body into pieces, placed them in bags, and discarded them in the trash to steal money to pay off his debts. According to a security source, the Imbaba police station in Giza received a report about the discovery of a black plastic bag containing human remains, specifically two severed male legs below the knee within the police department's jurisdiction.

Efforts by a research team formed under the general security sector, in collaboration with the Giza police investigations department, revealed that the perpetrator was a barber with a criminal record residing in the same area. Following legal procedures, he was targeted and arrested.

Upon confronting the suspect, he confessed to having discarded the mentioned bag, stating that the human remains found belonged to his elder brother, who also worked as a barber and lived at the same address. The suspect, experiencing financial distress, sought assistance from his victim but was met with refusal, which angered him as he knew his brother was well-off and had money at his workplace.

The suspect continued his confession, explaining that he had planned to kill his elder brother and lured him to a newly rented apartment within the area. He then ambushed and strangled him with a plastic rope until he died, seized his mobile phone, and proceeded to dismember his body. He placed the remains in plastic bags and disposed of them in various trash locations within the area. Afterwards, he went to his brother’s shop, stealing a sum of money.

The suspect indicated the locations where he disposed of the rest of the body and revealed the tools used in the act: two knives and a plastic rope. The stolen items included cash and the victim’s mobile phone, which he spent on settling his debts.

The accused has been referred to the Egyptian public prosecutor, who ordered him to be held for four days pending the investigation.
