Anticipation for the First Council Sessions and Direction Towards a Government with New Features

A political entitlement awaited by the Lebanese people is the agreement on naming a figure for the premiership, which has not yet shown clear signs. Sources are concerned that prolonged obstruction and paralysis will negatively affect economic, social, and financial conditions, especially since Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement insist on forming a political government. While Hezbollah emphasizes the need for a national unity government, Bassil wants to return as a minister in this government, particularly as everyone is wary of the possibility of Lebanon entering a presidential void, which means the new government would assume the powers of the presidency in case of such a void.

Conversely, sources monitoring the situation revealed to "An-Nabaa" that President Najib Mikati attempted to explore the possibility of reissuing decrees for the same government with slight amendments. However, according to these sources, the foundations of this government have collapsed post-elections because some political forces want representation in it, and because Hezbollah no longer agrees to a technocratic government, nor does Bassil.

Additionally, sources confirm that discussions have begun among political and parliamentary blocs regarding how to conduct the first council sessions. They revealed that "Hezbollah has started contacts with the Free Patriotic Movement to discuss reaching an agreement," while the Movement demands the position of Deputy Speaker of the Council and has other demands related to political guarantees regarding the formation of the upcoming government, in addition to calling for the dismissal of the Governor of the Central Bank, Riad Salameh.

Therefore, the country is heading towards a foggy phase, and the responsibility will be multiplied for all elected forces to prove their ability to save the country and pull it out of its crisis.
