Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" revealed that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, forward for Juventus football club, feels frustrated and lonely within "La Vecchia Signora." According to the newspaper, Ronaldo has recently changed and behaves quite differently from when he first arrived in Turin.
It noted that Ronaldo is no longer trying to elevate his teammates' performance as he used to and does not appear to enjoy football at all. He has become more nervous and quick to anger, being very distant from his teammates. The newspaper stated, "It seems that he has given up and is no longer fighting as he used to in matches... He looked very different against Fiorentina, which is a concerning sign... He doesn’t even try to hide these feelings anymore, appearing isolated on the pitch. It seems that Ronaldo is getting closer to leaving Juventus."
"La Gazzetta dello Sport" considered that the mood of the "don" does not help him perform, as he has gone three consecutive matches without scoring a goal. The same newspaper reported that Ronaldo wants to leave "La Vecchia Signora" at the end of the current season and has tasked his agent Jorge Mendes with finding him a new club for the next season, as the relationship between him and Juventus has reached its final stage.
It added that Real Madrid has ruled out the idea of bringing Ronaldo back, explaining that Manchester United remains an option for the "don," as well as Paris Saint-Germain, but he will need to lower his salary of 31 million euros per year if he wants to leave Juve.
Cristiano Ronaldo is going through his longest goal drought since suffering an injury during his first season in Italy, according to the newspaper. The Portuguese star has gone scoreless in his last three matches in Serie A, nearing his worst record with the "bianconeri," having failed to score against Genoa, Parma, and Fiorentina, respectively, while he missed the Atalanta match after feeling unwell in training.
Ronaldo faced severe criticism after his match against Fiorentina (1-1) last Sunday in the 33rd round of "calcio," where he was an absent presence in the match; "La Gazzetta dello Sport" labeled him the worst player on the pitch for Juventus.
Despite these criticisms, at 36 years old, he has delivered good performances with Juventus this season (2020-2021), scoring 32 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, along with four assists. He leads the Serie A scoring chart with 25 goals scored in 29 matches.
Ronaldo (36 years old) is the highest-paid player in Serie A with an annual salary estimated at around 30 million euros, and his contract with the Italian team ends at the end of next season.
