Expo 2020 Dubai is taking place under exceptional circumstances as the first international gathering of this scale since the COVID-19 pandemic, which has necessitated preventive and precautionary measures for visitors to the exhibition that ensures the highest safety levels for exhibitors and attendees at Expo 2020 Dubai. Dubai welcomes the world to Expo, which lasts for six months, amidst precautionary and preventive measures that assure visitors, especially given the significant progress the UAE has made in combating the virus and the record rise in vaccination rates. The exhibition is keen to ensure that visits are enjoyable and safe at the same time. To guarantee this, a number of health and safety measures are implemented throughout the Expo 2020 Dubai site.
A series of measures has been outlined, including a "before attending the exhibition" advisory urging visitors that "if you feel any symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have been in direct contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19, or if you are required to comply with any other quarantine and home isolation orders."
Entry requirements state "visitors aged 18 and over must provide proof of having received an approved vaccine by their government or a negative PCR test not exceeding 72 hours from the time of issuance." The exhibition allows ticket holders who have not been vaccinated and have not undergone a PCR test during this period to use the medical testing facility adjacent to the Expo 2020 site. Test results take approximately four hours. The PCR test will be free upon presentation of any valid Expo 2020 ticket.
These measures contribute to reassuring visitors, especially in light of the significant progress made by the United Arab Emirates, which maintains its leading position in combating the coronavirus and high vaccination rates. According to the latest reports from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, the percentage of residents who have received the first dose of the vaccine reaches 93.92 percent, while the percentage of those receiving both doses stands at 83.26 percent. Such indicators send a message of reassurance to the world in the presence of Dubai and Expo 2020 Dubai, which is considered the largest and first of its kind event since the onset of the pandemic that disrupted many international forums and gatherings.
