In this match, Al Nassr clinched the Saudi Super Cup title for the second time in its history, defeating its rival Al Hilal with a score of three goals to none. The first half ended in a goalless draw, with French player Bafétimbi Gomis scoring a goal for Al Hilal in the 9th minute, which was disallowed due to offside. Al Nassr's most dangerous chance in the first half was a shot by Moroccan player Nordin Amrabat in the 25th minute, which was skillfully saved by Al Hilal's goalkeeper, Abdullah Al Maiouf. In the 26th minute, Al Hilal's midfielder Salman Al Faraj suffered an injury and left the field, with Muhammad Kanno coming on as his replacement.
In the second half, Brazilian player Petros scored Al Nassr's first goal in the 61st minute with a header. Moroccan star Abderrazak Hamdallah added the second goal in the 82nd minute, while Sami Al Najai completed the scoring in the 92nd minute.
Al Hilal entered the derby after successfully winning the Saudi league title for the 16th time in its history last season, finishing 8 points ahead of Al Nassr, which secured second place with 64 points. Al Hilal also won the King’s Cup for the ninth time in its history, while Al Nassr came into the Super Cup as the runner-up in both the league and cup competitions.
It is noteworthy that Al Nassr won the Saudi Super Cup title last year after beating Al Taawoun in a penalty shootout, 5-4, following a draw in regular time.
