Dubai International Airport Ranks First Globally in Seat Capacity per Flight

Dubai International Airport has ranked first in the world in terms of average seat capacity available per flight, according to a recent study published by the international organization "OAG," which provides data on airports and airlines. The study, of which "Emirates Today" obtained a copy, stated that the average seat capacity per flight at Dubai International Airport, which is also the world's top airport for international passenger traffic, reached 270 seats in July 2021, compared to 298 seats in July 2019. It highlighted the large size of the aircraft operated at Dubai International Airport, especially for international flights.

The organization noted that the resumption of more services by Emirates Airlines, particularly using the giant Airbus A380, is expected to push the average capacity close to about 300 seats, approaching the levels of 2019. According to the data provided by the organization, Tokyo Haneda Airport ranked second globally with an average capacity of 204 seats per flight in July 2021, down from 243 seats in July 2019, while Beijing Capital Airport came in third with 205 seats in July 2021 compared to 215 in the same period of 2019.

The organization highlighted the ongoing recovery of air travel, as airlines reshape their strategies and reevaluate them for the coming decade, including adjustments to their networks and reviews of their fleets and operating models, as well as renegotiating many supplier agreements.

It is worth mentioning that Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the world's busiest international airport in terms of scheduled flight seat capacity during July 2021. According to the organization's data, the seat capacity for scheduled flights at Dubai International Airport in July 2021 was approximately 2.38 million seats.
