The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced a temporary suspension of entry into the Kingdom for non-citizens, diplomats, health practitioners, and their families from a number of countries.
The National News Agency reported that the Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a statement referencing the announcement made on 29/5/1442 AH (13/1/2021) regarding travel bans to several countries due to the continued spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. It stated that, according to the precautionary measures recommended by health authorities in the Kingdom and in the context of ongoing efforts to control the spreading of the virus, the Ministry of Interior wishes to announce the decision to temporarily suspend entry into the Kingdom for non-citizens, diplomats, health practitioners, and their families from: the Argentine Republic, the United Arab Emirates, the Federal Republic of Germany, the United States of America, the Republic of Indonesia, Ireland, the Italian Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Portuguese Republic, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Swiss Confederation, the French Republic, the Lebanese Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of India, and Japan.
The statement clarified that the suspension also applies to those coming from other countries if they had passed through any of the aforementioned countries within 14 days prior to their request to enter the Kingdom. It noted that entry for citizens, diplomats, health practitioners, and their families coming from or having passed through any of those countries during the 14 days prior to their return to the Kingdom will be in accordance with precautionary measures set by the Ministry of Health. The Ministry stated that this decision will take effect starting at 9 PM on Wednesday, 21/6/1442 AH (3/2/2021).
