Under the title "Vatican Honors 'Man of Humanity': The UAE as a Beacon of Goodness and Its Contributions to Mankind," the Emirates News Agency reported that the Pontifical Educational Foundation of the Vatican awarded His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the "Man of Humanity" medal. This award embodies the UAE's unique and leading approach to humanitarian work that has impacted the entire world and its significant contributions reaching those in need across various regions.
Officials and ambassadors stated in remarks to the Emirates News Agency "WAM" during the honoring ceremony yesterday that the UAE provides the world with a pioneering model in global humanitarian giving, clearly manifested during the COVID-19 crisis. The UAE quickly extended a helping hand to countries around the world alongside its leading efforts to control the pandemic and ensure the health and safety of all citizens and residents on its territory.
They said, "The UAE’s humanitarian initiatives do not recognize borders, as its relief efforts reached the people of the Amazon at the height of the pandemic's repercussions, asserting that the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his charitable initiatives are appreciated and respected globally."
His Eminence Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, President of the Pontifical Educational Foundation - Dean of Catholic Education in the world - and Minister of Education of the Vatican, emphasized that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan presents an inspiring model of global human solidarity, stating that His Highness’s humanitarian giving efforts are evident and encompass various countries worldwide.
He noted that the UAE's humanitarian initiatives do not recognize geographical boundaries. For example, the UAE ensured the delivery of medical and food assistance to the affected peoples of the Amazon in Peru, in collaboration with the Vatican represented by the Vatican department concerned with education, pointing out that this cooperation is a translation of the Document on Human Fraternity.
For his part, Dr. Taj al-Din Saif, Ambassador of the Pontifical Educational Foundation in Abu Dhabi, confirmed that the UAE was founded on a solid approach of goodness and humanitarian giving established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul. He noted that humanitarian work in the UAE has become an inspiring model for the entire world under the support and care of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
He added that the UAE, following His Highness’s directives, will spare no effort in providing all forms of support to countries worldwide to help them face the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its humanitarian efforts reached the farthest corners of the earth and succeeded in overcoming all challenges to achieve its noble humanitarian goal.
He explained that the phrase "Don't worry" has had a noble humanitarian impact not only on the UAE and all residents within its land but also across various regions of the world, as the country swiftly directed its humanitarian assistance to all nations suffering under the weight of the pandemic, presenting a leading humanitarian model of solidarity and mutual support during crises.
Moreover, His Excellency Abdelilah Oudadas, Chargé d'Affaires of the Moroccan Embassy in the UAE, stated, "We take pride in the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in the field of global humanitarian work, placing the UAE at the forefront of countries worldwide in this domain." He pointed out that the UAE’s pioneering humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic are appreciated by the entire world, as its assistance reached the farthest corners of the earth in the Amazon regions of Latin America, reflecting the lofty and noble leadership of the prudent state and its commitment to aiding those in need regardless of the challenges.
He added that saving human lives is the highest rank of humanitarian work, and the UAE believes in its important role in this regard, performing it diligently and earnestly to affirm its leading approach in humanitarian work—a model that inspires the entire world.
