Sheikh Qablan: Internationalization is the Cause of Lebanon's Crisis

The distinguished Ja'fari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qablan stated that "the call for an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations to save Lebanon, as claimed, is fundamentally destructive to Lebanon's formula; Lebanon's sovereignty is not a fashion statement, to be worn at will and discarded at will."

He noted that "internationalization is the cause of Lebanon's crisis since its inception, and it has continuously served as the fuel for its destruction since the civil war. The governmental vacuum is caused by the appetite of certain international dinosaurs and their agents, nothing more, nothing less. Thus, we do not want this country to suffer more media fires and employed bands inciting lies." He emphasized that "Lebanon has fought the greatest battles in the region to protect its political decision, national sovereignty, shared living, and civil peace, and it will never relinquish this sovereignty."

He stressed that "the story of guardianship, sponsorship, international committees, conferences, internationalization, Chapter Seven, pressure, international funding buckets, and begging for Lebanon is nothing but a deliberate or inadvertent call for the occupation of Lebanon and the liquidation of its sovereignty, alongside drowning it in resettlement and hellish cantons." Qablan warned against "some bands insisting on playing roles reminiscent of Larsen, Mehlis, Satterfield, Feltman, and Shenker, which see Lebanon only through the lens of Tel Aviv and Resolution 1559. Let it be known that countries' sovereignty comes at a price of blood, sacrifices, struggle, and partnership, from which Lebanon has long derived to remain a free, independent master."

Patriarch Raï had announced the call for an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations for Lebanon, affirming: "The Taif Agreement was internationalization, and initiatives are internationalization; there should be no more obstruction, no extensions, and yes to all deadlines for entitlements."
