The artistic community was saddened today, Friday, by the death of the Egyptian actor Ezzat El-Alaili at the age of 86.
The late actor was mourned by his son Mahmoud El-Alaili, who wrote on his social media accounts: "My father, the artist Ezzat El-Alaili, passed away this morning. The funeral prayer will be held after the afternoon prayer at Al-Mawra Mosque beside Dreamland Hospital." Carol Samaha wrote on Twitter: "Goodbye to the great actor and intellectual Ezzat El-Alaili. We have now entered the second year of the silent third world war," ending with the hashtag "Corona." Lebanese artist Carmen Lebbos commented on the news of his death saying: "God bless the great actor Ezzat El-Alaili. My condolences to the people of Egypt on their loss. I had the honor of meeting him at the Dubai Festival in 2013; he was a great human and artist." Egyptian actor Ashraf Zaki, president of the Actors' Syndicate in Egypt, shared a photo of the late actor and mourned him by saying: "May he rest in peace, the knight of Arab drama."
It is noteworthy that Ezzat El-Alaili has a rich body of work, including the film "Al-Ard," which was released in 1970 directed by Youssef Chahine, in addition to "The Road to Eilat," "Ahl El-Qimma," "Al-Mansouriya," and "Al-Toot wal Naboot." His theatrical contributions include prominent plays such as "Ahlan Ya Bakkawat" and "Thawrat Qarya."
