A Syrian military source announced that Syria was subjected to Israeli aggression from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights, and that air defense systems responded to this attack.
The Syrian news agency SANA reported the source stating that at 10:42 PM today, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights, launching a barrage of ground-to-air and air-to-ground missiles targeting several objectives in the southern region. Our air defense systems intercepted the hostile missiles and shot down most of them, with damages limited to material losses.
The military source added that Syrian air defenses thwarted an Israeli aggression targeting the southern region of the country this evening in the Syrian capital, Damascus. SANA clarified that residents in the southern and western neighborhoods of the Syrian capital clearly heard the sounds of surface-to-air missiles fired by Syrian air defenses towards the trajectory of the Israeli missiles in the southern region.
This Israeli aggression comes a few hours after a violent attack by ISIS militants on military positions between the Hama and Homs deserts in central Syria, resulting in the deaths of seven fighters from the supporting forces of the Syrian army. The total number of fatalities increased to twelve on Wednesday evening after five of the injured from the attack succumbed to their wounds.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian Foreign Ministry had previously issued a statement regarding the criminal Israeli aggression around the city of Hama, considering it part of ongoing Israeli violations, which have exceeded 50 acts of aggression in less than a year. These acts constitute a flagrant violation of human rights and international law by targeting civilians and infringing upon their right to live in safety and peace.
