Egyptian authorities continue to crack down on social media offenders. Following the trials of Haneen Hossam, Moudy Al-Adham, and many others, Egyptian lawyer Ashraf Farahat filed a complaint with the public prosecutor against a new TikTok girl named Moka Hegazi for broadcasting live videos where she appears nearly naked.
Farahat stated in his complaint that Hegazi is not only following in the footsteps of previous girls like Haneen Hossam, Moudy Al-Adham, Rinad Emad, Hadeer Al-Hadi, Manar Sami, and Sama Al-Masri on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, but she is worse because she has not learned from what happened to them, as he put it.
Authorities have begun pursuing Hegazi for her arrest after the lawyer called for her immediate apprehension and investigation, as well as her referral to urgent criminal prosecution.
The name Moka Hegazi has recently gained significant attention, with social media users sharing photos and videos of her, criticizing her bizarre behavior, which leans heavily towards the pornographic, as well as her mannerisms and style, despite her being young.
She gained fame in a short period and is known as the "new TikTok girl." Moreover, Moka Hegazi's videos on TikTok have reached over 1.4 million views, and her videos are characterized as "indecent." Social media users described her performances as provocative and immoral.
It is worth noting that the Cairo Criminal Court sentenced another girl to 10 years in prison and a fine of 200,000 Egyptian pounds for human trafficking and exploiting children under 18 to film indecent videos and publish them on social media. This ruling also included Moudy Al-Adham, who received a six-year prison sentence. The cases of Haneen and Moudy came to light in March 2020 after the public prosecutor’s office received demands from social media users to investigate them due to videos posted on their accounts.
