In Egypt: A Dispute over Dinner Leads a Bride to Kill Her Husband

The prosecution in Belqas, northern Dakahlia, began investigating the murder of a housewife who stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife following a quarrel over her failure to prepare dinner. According to eyewitnesses, the couple was married last June.

**Incident Details**

The Director of Security in Dakahlia received a report from Belqas Central Hospital regarding a young man named Abdel Khalek Hisham Abdel Khalek Al-Lahma, 25, from the village of Manayel in the center of Sitamouni. He arrived with a fatal stab wound to the chest and died upon arrival at the hospital, with his family accusing his wife of the stabbing.

Officers from the Sitamouni police station went to the scene and confirmed the young man's death due to a stab wound to the chest. His family stated that he had been married since June 24 and lived in an apartment in the family home. They were shocked to see his wife rush out of the house, and when they went upstairs to check on him, they found him lying on the floor covered in blood. He was transported to the hospital but died immediately upon arrival, and they accused his wife of killing him.

After legal procedures were followed, the wife, identified as "Fatima A.", 22, was arrested while hiding in her father's house in the same village. When confronted, she confessed to stabbing her husband with a knife, attributing it to his hitting her over her failure to prepare dinner.

The wife stated in her report that her husband returned from his job as a microbus driver and asked for dinner. She told him she had not prepared anything because he left in the morning without leaving her any money, leading to an argument. The quarrel escalated, and he began to hit her, prompting her to flee to the kitchen. He pursued her intending to hit her again, so she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him, then ran away. She claimed she did not intend to kill him but was defending herself and trying to keep him away.

A report of the incident was filed, and the case was referred to the public prosecutor for investigation, which decided to appoint a forensic doctor to examine the body and determine the cause of death, allowing for burial afterward.
