The electronic newspaper Al-Anbaa reports: Yesterday, on the 45th anniversary of the martyrdom of teacher Kamel Jumblatt, Mukhtara transformed into a national pilgrimage, with streets and squares filled with delegations from all Lebanese regions. Participants in this distinctive national day affirmed their commitment to the path of the martyr Kamel Jumblatt and his journey for a free and sovereign Lebanon, liberated from all guardianships.
Timour Jumblatt, head of the Democratic Gathering bloc, delivered a high-profile political speech, asserting that Mukhtara will remain a symbol of truth, freedom, and openness, announcing a confrontation with destructive forces and purveyors of doom. He stressed that "regardless of what happens—whether this era remains or falls, whether we lose a parliamentary seat or gain one—Mukhtara will remain open, and it will continue to be a home for the people."
The confrontation announced by MP Jumblatt represents the true battle the Progressive Socialist Party is waging in the May 15 elections; a fight imbued with national spirit to protect what remains of Lebanon against the destruction of institutions and the distortion of Lebanon's Arab identity. MP Bilal Abdullah, a member of the Democratic Gathering bloc, described Mukhtara's day as a "demonstration of commitment and a reaffirmation of resilience and confrontation." He stated that no matter how intense the pressures, or how others may attempt to distort the role of this globally recognized national leadership, the people will not allow that to happen. He emphasized that the historical role of the Progressive Party is not tied to the number of MPs or ministers it has, as some may think, but rather what is vastly greater—a continuous accumulation of struggle and daily attention to the nation’s affairs, irrespective of circumstances or elections.
Meanwhile, the clash between the banking sector and the judiciary is escalating, prompting the cabinet to convene to discuss possible measures in this confrontation, which could take on even more severe dimensions. Government sources highlighted in a call with Al-Anbaa that the cabinet agrees on addressing the judicial issue in accordance with applicable laws. They tasked the Minister of Justice with developing a vision for addressing judicial conditions and also tasked the Minister of Finance to request the Central Bank to take all necessary measures to allow employees to withdraw their salaries deposited in banks without restrictions. They expressed hope that the banks association would act at the national level and refrain from negative directions, cooperating to resolve the crisis.
Despite the positive atmosphere emerging from the cabinet, which sought to portray a firm stance, the fragility of the judicial situation following the farce witnessed in recent days calls for more than mere wishes; it necessitates practical and decisive measures capable of fortifying and cleansing the judiciary to protect everyone from oppression and achieve justice.
