Michel Tabet Passes Away: COVID-19 Continues to Claim Lives

The artist and actor Michel Tabet has passed away at the age of 92 due to complications from COVID-19.

The National News Agency reported that the esteemed artist Michel Tabet died at the age of 92 after being infected with the virus and battling chronic illnesses for the past five years. The Actors Syndicate expressed its condolences to the Lebanese and Arab people and all artists for the passing of the syndicate’s head, actor Michel Tabet, who dedicated nearly 90 years of his life to syndicate work, tirelessly fighting for the rights of actors in Lebanon.

Tabet had a significant presence in the world of drama and contributed to many television series and films. Some of his notable works include the series "Dawar Ya Zaman," "Ibrahim Afandi," "The Tyrant," "For Whom Does Love Sing," and "The Negligent." Tabet played a crucial role in the labor union, serving as the president of the Syndicate of Theater, Cinema, Radio, and Television Actors in Lebanon for an extended period. Notable films he participated in include "Girls for Killing," "For Whom Does Love Sing," "The Negligent," and others. The late artist was well-known for his roles portraying villains.

Michel Tabet was born in 1930 and worked in the acting profession, becoming a true star on screens through numerous television series and films. He began his artistic journey in 1943 with the "Renaissance Artistic" troupe, then moved on to the Institute of Fine Arts until he co-founded the "Cedar Artistic" troupe in 1966 with his colleagues Michel Tamer and George Kaai, presenting theatrical works like "The Wandering Lover" and others. The troupe later focused on cinema, producing the film "Conscience Torment" in 1975, among others. Tabet entered television in 1978 with "The Artistic Director," directed by Elias Mattia. His achievements include 2,600 television episodes, 40 feature films, 2,000 dubbed episodes, and numerous theatrical productions.
