The Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, Imad Haballah, tweeted: "Following the statement issued by the Ministry of Industry, and to avoid any confusion, cement companies will open their doors for the sale of their cement stock starting from Monday, February 8, 2021, to meet market needs.”
Haballah added: "Cement factories must ensure fair distribution and prevent monopolies, ensuring sales at the official price for citizens. They are responsible for distributors and prices. Alternatively, they could sell directly to citizens."
The Prime Minister's office circulated an update on the strategy to confront the Coronavirus and the gradual lifting of lockdown restrictions, which will be organized through a process of relaxation on four phases.
According to this circular, the opening of sectors will be done over four phases, with each phase lasting 15 days. Supermarkets and mini-markets will open while maintaining delivery services during the first phase (access to supermarkets requires a two-hour permission in this phase). Additionally, industries related to agriculture, poultry, livestock, and milk production will open, with employees required to undergo a PCR test every 14 days. Banks will open at 20% of their capacity.
Regarding the education sector and nurseries, the committee recommends not opening them during the first phase, and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will coordinate with the Ministry of Public Health and relevant health authorities to study the available data and develop a mechanism for reopening this sector.
