After her expulsion from the Egyptian Actors' Syndicate due to her statements regarding her participation in the film "Mesh Ana" with actor Tamer Hosny, prior to her marriage to preacher Moaz Massoud, Hala Shiha made new fiery comments in response to her father, who claimed that his daughter had been "intellectually abducted." The controversy began when Shiha expressed her dissatisfaction over her recent appearance in a video clip for Tamer Hosny's song, which was filmed as part of "Mesh Ana," before announcing her retirement from acting.
Shiha criticized her colleague Hosny in a social media post, expressing her refusal to appear in the music video, which prompted a response from him and ignited the issue further. The Egyptian Actors' Syndicate condemned what it perceived as attempts to revert to "dark thinking" following the actress's comments, leading to her expulsion announced by Syndicate head Ashraf Zaki.
In response to the decision, Shiha stated that she did not wish to be part of any form of extremism, whether in the name of religion or art. The situation escalated with comments from the actress's father, visual artist Ahmed Shiha, regarding her actions with Hosny, stating, "This talk is inappropriate; she filmed the movie and was very impressed with it. I don't know where this talk comes from. You filmed it and that's it... This is not the Hala I know." He added, "Hala has never said that art is forbidden, and we are now witnessing an intellectual kidnapping of Hala Shiha, and I am saddened for her." He defended Hosny, praising the film "Mesh Ana," and asserting that Shiha was one hundred percent wrong in her statements.
In turn, the actress did not remain silent and responded to her father via an Instagram post, saying: "Honestly, I am shocked by what my father said about my husband, whom I married of my own free will. Thank God, I found with him all the beautiful meanings of respect, chivalry, and rare gallantry these days." She added, "No one kidnapped me as my father said, and the words are not appropriate at all. I love my husband and am happy with his love for me. We respect each other. Moaz values my opinion and feelings, and on the contrary, he always calms me down; of course, he supports and encourages me as I am his wife and beloved. He is much bigger than all the false accusations made against him."
She continued: "I am very upset with my father because he knows Moaz very well and has spent a lot of time with him; my father really likes him and has seen all good in him. Moaz, like me, was married for 14 years and had a stable life with three children. In the end, like me, his marriage did not last and ended in divorce; we are all susceptible to this."
She concluded her post with a message to her beloved father, saying, "Your words are not appropriate at all, with all due respect to you and everyone. Thank God, I am happy in my life."
