The Iraqi team equalized through Mohamed Dawood in the 79th minute, and Ayman Hussein scored from a penalty in the 89th minute. Despite the Iraqi team's early dominance and ball possession, threatening the Kuwaiti goal with a shot from Amjad Attwan after just 15 minutes, Kuwaiti goalkeeper excelled. However, Kuwait managed to open the scoring in the 22nd minute.
The Iraqi team's pressure led to the equalizer after substitute Mohamed Qassem made several dangerous passes, and from one of his crosses, he set up Mohamed Dawood, who successfully placed the ball into the net, scoring the equalizer in the 79th minute. Iraq nearly added a second goal through Mohamed Qassem with a powerful shot that was saved by Kuwaiti goalkeeper Suleiman Abdul Ghafour.
