Iraqi National Team Wins Friendly Match Against Kuwait

The Basra International Stadium hosted a friendly match between the Iraqi national team and the Kuwaiti national team as part of the preparations for the teams for the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup.

The Iraqi team achieved an important victory over their Kuwaiti counterparts with a score of (2-1). The Kuwaiti team opened the scoring with a goal from Eid Al-Rashidi in the 22nd minute. The Iraqi team equalized through Mohamed Dawood in the 79th minute, and Ayman Hussein scored from a penalty in the 89th minute. Despite the Iraqi team's early dominance and ball possession, threatening the Kuwaiti goal with a shot from Amjad Attwan after just 15 minutes, Kuwaiti goalkeeper excelled. However, Kuwait managed to open the scoring in the 22nd minute.

The Iraqi team's pressure led to the equalizer after substitute Mohamed Qassem made several dangerous passes, and from one of his crosses, he set up Mohamed Dawood, who successfully placed the ball into the net, scoring the equalizer in the 79th minute. Iraq nearly added a second goal through Mohamed Qassem with a powerful shot that was saved by Kuwaiti goalkeeper Suleiman Abdul Ghafour.

The Iraqi team was awarded a penalty after Ayman Hussein was pulled down by defender Fahad Hamoud, who received a red card. Ayman Hussein scored the second goal for Iraq from the penalty in the 89th minute, ending the match with a victory for Al-Rafidain Lions (2-1).
