Lebanon's President Jozef Aoun welcomed Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny, CMA CGM's Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé, Beirut Port Investment Chairman Marwan Neffé, and the group's regional director Joe Dakkak. The president emphasized that "launching the container terminal expansion project at Beirut Port will positively impact the overall Lebanese economy by facilitating trade and boosting Lebanon's competitiveness, attracting investments, and creating new job opportunities." He stressed that "revitalizing the port is a key element in restoring Lebanon's economic and logistical position in the region and attracting more investments for the economy."
Additionally, President Aoun met with State Security General Director Edgar Laoudens to discuss the country's security situation and the measures taken to strengthen their presence in the south, particularly in the Nabatieh region, following the security meeting he led last Wednesday. Their discussions also covered the State Security's role in combating corruption and overseeing work within official departments and institutions.
The President was also briefed by Civil Defense Director General Brigadier General Emad Khreish on the operations conducted in southern Lebanon, especially in villages and towns targeted by Israeli attacks, as well as nation-wide efforts addressing fire fighting and relief activities. The meeting also highlighted the needs of the Civil Defense.
