Greek Authorities to Extend Restrictions on International and Domestic Flights

Greece has confirmed that it will extend the ban on domestic and international flights until February 15, in order to limit the spread of COVID-19. Under the measures and restrictions in place, travelers to Greece are required to undergo a PCR test within 72 hours before arrival and must undergo random testing; all foreign travelers are subject to a seven-day quarantine.

Authorities have also extended the nighttime curfew by three hours in areas where the majority of virus cases are concentrated. Due to the new restrictions that have come into effect, the nighttime curfew will now start at 6 PM instead of 9 PM during weekends.

The Civil Aviation Authority reported that travelers from the UK will still be required to take a rapid test upon arrival, while flights from Turkey remain suspended.

In this context, Greece has taken necessary measures for a general lockdown in parts of the country, including Athens, due to the rising number of infections. Since the first cases of the virus were reported a year ago, the country has recorded 5,951 COVID-19 related deaths and 163,213 infections.
