Former Deputy Antoine Saad emphasized that the Great Saturday in Bkerke is a message of national independence that deserves to be met and should echo with those who monopolize the decision to save Lebanon from collapse and ruin, and who keep the borders open for smuggling.
The National News Agency reported this evening on a statement made by former Deputy Antoine Saad, affirming that the positions expressed yesterday by Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi represented a crucial turning point in addressing the current Lebanese crisis. This crisis is the result of Lebanon being imprisoned by a system that seeks to replace Syrian guardianship with Iranian oversight, taking Lebanon into an unknown security and economic realm and isolating it from its Arab and international surroundings by establishing a new lifestyle, the phases of which we are currently experiencing, starting from the crisis of freedoms, methods of silencing voices and assassinations, to demonizing anyone who seeks to protect the formula of coexistence and neutralize Lebanon, culminating in the deliberate destruction of the national economy in all its components to continue the trend of control and seizing power’s levers.
Saad regarded the Great Saturday in Bkerke as a national independence message that ought to be reciprocated, finding a receptive audience among those who monopolize the decision to rescue Lebanon from collapse and ruin, who keep the borders open for smuggling, who hinder the investigation into the port explosion, and who occupy positions of power without taking any action to save the people living through a slow death for the sake of a blocking third or an hereditary third that would neither advance nor delay if the structure collapsed above everyone's heads.
Former Deputy Antoine Saad expressed his support for the Patriarch's call to hold an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations to protect Lebanon, after the current ruling system has failed to provide solutions to Lebanon’s persistent problems, which are hindered by certain dark-minded individuals clinging to power and controlling dialogue and interactions.
Saad noted that the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, has "sounded the alarm early and previously warned of our current situation resulting from the disastrous settlement and the electoral law that handed the country over to the Iranian axis, deepening sectarian and confessional division, and bringing us to this tragic reality." He mentioned that Jumblatt has faced numerous attacks while still hoping for the success of the French initiative to form a rescue government led by designated Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Saad described the position from Bkerke as "very advanced and pivotal," reminding us of the courageous, wise, and national stances of the late Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, who championed the reconciliation in the mountains with Jumblatt and was one of the prominent figures of the second independence of Lebanon. He hopes that the Patriarch's initiative will be accepted by all, away from internationalization or the logic of accusations of treason, to restore Lebanon to its Arab and international embrace and its historically bright image.
