The Syrian artist Farah Youssef has released a new song on her YouTube channel titled "Like a Flower," written and composed by Mohammed Rifa'i, with distribution by Ahmed Ibrahim.
The song is in the Egyptian dialect, and the concept of the music video revolves around a couple in love who culminate their love story in marriage, followed by dramatic events. This work marks Youssef's artistic comeback after a long absence from the artistic scene, and she expresses optimism, stating that people will like it, and it won't be her last output. The lyrics of the song include: "I picked you like a flower and planted you inside my heart. If one day your thorns hurt me, I will endure and hide it. If for a second you moved away from me, you will remain within me. This love is a world of feelings, not just words to say. Love, my dear, is actions, not just loving you and that's it. Inside me, there is nostalgia for seeing you. I imagine myself with you, suffering while you are not with me, seeing you in the eyes of my heart."
Previously, Youssef appeared from the shooting scenes of the music video in one of her television interviews, which was filmed in Dubai under the direction of Adel Sarhan and produced by Lifestyle Studios. She looked stunning in a white wedding dress, jokingly saying: "Oh, it's time for the gathering, oh, they said Farah won't get married; oh, I got married and took their eyes away."
Discussing her limited work recently, she attributed this to her presence in the United States for the last five years, and now that she has returned to the Arab countries and settled in the Emirates with her partner, she will continue working again.
In another context, when talking about her personal life, Farah confirmed that her husband "Christian" is of Venezuelan nationality and had been living in America, pointing out that living with someone from a different culture is not as difficult as people expect. On the contrary, she described it as a beautiful experience, but it requires awareness and great love for them to continue.
The Syrian artist noted that her husband tells her that he understands everything she sings, even if it’s in Arabic, explaining that she is the only woman whose music he comprehends, expressing her happiness about this.
When asked about talent shows, Youssef stated that these shows bring visibility to artists but also take it away, clarifying that it’s not a literal takeaway but rather highlighting the artist, emphasizing that the work must be collaborative between the talented person and the program together, describing it as: "Once these programs are over, everything seems to suddenly change, and this is where the individual's efforts come into play."
She added: "The Lord of the Worlds has gifted me greatly, and I believe that the talent I possess deserves to be honed and grow more, but unfortunately, my circumstances have not been easy, including what my country, Syria, has gone through, which has affected us all and made me rearrange some matters."
It’s noteworthy that Farah Youssef's last work was the song "Please," written by Bandar Al-Bulhamer and composed by Ahmed Sami, which she filmed with spontaneous and playful scenes and garnered much admiration from her fans.
