The Internal Security Forces in Lebanon indicated on their official website that on April 6, 2021, a citizen reported that his daughter, A.M. (born in 1993, Lebanese), had left her home located in the al-Qobbeh neighborhood of Tripoli for an unknown destination. The kidnapper demanded a ransom of 10,000 US dollars, after sending the father via WhatsApp voice recordings, pictures, and videos of his daughter, who was crying and asking for help to be released from the place where she had been kidnapped in West Bekaa.
Immediately, necessary orders were given to the specialized units in the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to uncover the circumstances of the incident. As a result of the investigations and inquiries conducted by the branch, it became evident that A.M. had met with her friend, B.S. (born in 1997, Lebanese), on the day she disappeared. The latter was summoned for questioning, where he confessed that his girlfriend told him about her escape from her father's house due to a conflict with him, and that she intended to claim she had been kidnapped to obtain money.
The site reported that on April 11, 2021, after a careful surveillance operation, one of the branch’s patrols was able to locate the girl in the Jesus the King area, where she was arrested. During the investigation, she admitted that she had not been kidnapped and had fled her father's house due to his ill-treatment. She was the one who filmed herself as if she were a kidnap victim and sent the photos and videos to her father asking for a ransom.
