Does the Military Diet Succeed in Weight Loss in 3 Days?

Nutrition experts refer to this diet as "military," even though it was not actually created by a military entity; it is named for its quick effectiveness in weight loss. It is limited to just 3 days because it is not a sustainable eating plan. When following it, one should eat healthily during the remaining days of the week while not exceeding 1,500 calories a day.

The military diet allows consumption of certain foods, including meats such as sausage and hot dogs, fish particularly tuna, peanut butter, avocados, and some dairy products like cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, and vanilla ice cream, as well as eggs, grapefruit, bananas, apples, green beans, broccoli, carrots, white bread, crackers, or salty biscuits. It also includes spices and sauces such as hummus, mustard, pesto, lemon, and basil, as long as they do not contain added sugars. Herbal teas like chamomile and black coffee without sugar or milk can be consumed, along with unlimited water. However, butter, cream, artificial sweeteners, sugar, mayonnaise, and ketchup should be avoided.

**Day 1**

- Breakfast: Half a grapefruit, one slice of bread, two tablespoons of peanut butter, one cup of caffeinated coffee or tea.

- Lunch: ½ cup of tuna, one slice of bread, one cup of caffeinated coffee or tea.

- Dinner: 84 grams of any type of meat, one cup of green beans, half a banana, one small apple, one cup of vanilla ice cream.

**Day 2**

- Breakfast: One egg, one slice of toast, half a banana.

- Lunch: One cup of cottage cheese, one boiled egg, five pieces of crackers.

- Dinner: Two sausages or hot dogs without bread, one cup of broccoli, half a cup of carrots, half a banana, half a cup of vanilla ice cream.

**Day 3**

- Breakfast: Five pieces of crackers, one slice of cheddar cheese, one small apple.

- Lunch: One boiled egg, one slice of toast.

- Dinner: One cup of tuna, half a banana, one cup of vanilla ice cream.

This plan can result in losing more than 2 kg quickly. Given the nutrient scarcity in this diet, it is important to compensate the body during the remaining 4 days of the week by diversifying with vegetables, fruits, nuts, and other healthy foods. The diet can be repeated over several weeks until the desired weight is reached.
