A joint statement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman reaffirmed support for the Saudi initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. The statement emphasized serious cooperation regarding the Iranian nuclear and missile files. Both sides welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish a Saudi-Omani Coordination Council, chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries, to enhance their bilateral relations in various fields. They agreed to direct relevant authorities to expedite the opening of a direct land route and border crossing to facilitate the movement of citizens from both countries and integrate supply chains to achieve the desired economic integration between the two brotherly nations.
The two sides affirmed their commitment to intensifying economic cooperation between the countries by encouraging the public and private sectors to achieve quality trade and investment exchanges that meet the aspirations of both peoples and contribute to achieving the objectives of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Oman's Vision 2040. This would be accomplished through launching a series of joint initiatives, including collaboration in the Duqm area, energy cooperation, food security partnerships, and collaboration in various cultural, sports, and tourism activities.
The two sides confirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation in areas of environment, food security, and the Green Middle East Initiative announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, for its benefits at local, regional, and global levels. They praised the efforts of the OPEC Plus group, led by Saudi Arabia and with Oman's participation, which led to the stability and balance of oil markets, despite weak demand experienced by markets due to the waves of the Corona pandemic still affecting a large part of the world. They emphasized the necessity of continuing cooperation to support the stability of oil markets.
They also welcomed enhanced cooperation on implementing the circular carbon economy approach adopted by the G20 as a comprehensive framework to address challenges related to greenhouse gas emissions through available technologies, representing an economically sustainable way to manage emissions by applying its four elements: reduction, reuse, recycling, and removal. The two sides acknowledged the importance of adopting renewable energy sources and its technologies to contribute to the sustainability of global energy supplies.
Both sides agreed to direct relevant authorities to study mutual investment opportunities in advanced technologies, innovation, energy, renewable energy, health sector, pharmaceutical industries, real estate development, tourism, petrochemicals, manufacturing industries, supply chains, logistics partnerships, information technology, and financial technology that benefit both countries, considering available capabilities and ambitious opportunities. They welcomed the participation of Saudi companies in investing in the quality projects that Oman seeks to achieve.
Both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern at the regional and international levels and affirmed their commitment to coordinating their positions to serve their interests and enhance security and stability in the region and the world. Regarding the Yemeni issue, both sides confirmed their shared views on continuing efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf Initiative, its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, UN Security Council Resolution No. (2216), and the Kingdom's initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni brotherly people.
They underscored the importance of seriously and effectively addressing the Iranian nuclear and missile file and all its components and implications to achieve regional and international security and stability while confirming the principles of good neighborliness, respect for international resolutions, and avoiding all destabilizing activities in the region.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman invited his brother, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, to visit his second country, the Sultanate of Oman. For his part, King Salman expressed his appreciation for this invitation and welcomed it.
At the end of the visit, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his brother, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, for the kind reception and generous hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation. King Salman also conveyed his best wishes to his brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and for prosperity and growth for the Omani brotherly people.
