Death of TikTok Star Following Shooting in California Cinema

Anthony Barajas, a TikTok star, died from his injuries following a shooting at a movie theater in California that left another victim, according to local police.

The 19-year-old Anthony Barajas was attending a screening of "The Forever Purge" with his friend Riley Goodrich last week in a cinema in Corona, about 75 kilometers from Los Angeles, when a man opened fire.

Cinema workers found the two friends at the end of the screening, being among the few attendees present that night. Riley Goodrich died instantly, while Anthony Barajas was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Corona Police announced that he succumbed to his wounds on Saturday.

**One Million TikTok Followers**

Anthony Barajas, known online as "ItsAnthonyMichael," had nearly one million followers on TikTok, where he shared short videos documenting his daily life.

Police arrested 20-year-old suspect Joseph Jimenez, but stated they believe it is a case of "unprovoked attack." Security forces reported that "a firearm and other evidence linking him to the crime scene" were found at the suspect's home.

Items were stolen during the attack, although this was not considered the primary motive for the crime, as police indicated that Joseph Jimenez acted alone and had no prior connection to the victims.

**Increase in Gun Violence Incidents**

The United States has seen an increase in gun violence incidents, which President Joe Biden described as an "epidemic."

The country recorded more than 19,000 firearm-related homicides in 2020, a year that witnessed an increase in killings across all American cities.

In 2012, an armed man killed 12 people inside a cinema in Aurora, Colorado, during a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises."
