Before the official exams for all certificates, from vocational and technical to the intermediate stage and finally to secondary education, rumors and doubts circulated about the possibility of holding them. However, the determination and insistence of Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Halabi led to the exams being conducted peacefully and successfully due to their importance, both in assessing the achievements of the students of the intermediate certificate and for their educational value for secondary students seeking to enroll in universities, especially abroad. Despite their conclusion, rumors continued to circulate regarding teachers' reluctance to correct the exams or delays in the release of results due to a lack of correctors. However, results began to be issued progressively, with results for the technical and vocational education departments, including the technical degree results (LT) and the technical excellence results (TS) being published. Results for the technical baccalaureate (BT) and supplementary technical (BP) are expected to be released during the week, followed by the general baccalaureate and the second part of the baccalaureate.
Educational sources confirmed to "Al-Markaziyah" that all circulating rumors are inaccurate, as matters are proceeding in their natural course, and results require at least 15 days to be issued because teachers have received their financial entitlements, and there are no issues. The matter is settled and will reach its conclusion. When the time for results comes, a statement will be issued just like it was for the vocational and technical education. Anything else is mere speculation, analyses, or perhaps wishes, with no basis in fact, urging students and families to obtain news from its sources rather than through social media.
Sources affirm that the number of exams is large, with more than 100,000 copies for each subject for approximately 105,000 candidates. However, there are also a significant number of correctors who started correcting from the first day and did not waste any time. An agreement was made between the Minister of Education and the teachers to conduct the exams and corrections, and they received payment for each exam. If public school teachers refuse to correct, there is a private sector that has expressed its willingness to cooperate. The exams, according to sources, go through several stages before reaching the final stage and the issuance of results. In the first stage, the exams are sent from exam centers to the Exam Department in Bir Hassan. In the second stage, exams are grouped by language such as English, French, and Arabic; for instance, mathematics is available in all three languages. The third stage involves printing a unique code on the exams, so each exam bears a specific symbol. In the fourth stage, the exams are distributed into envelopes, each containing 50 exams, and in the fifth stage, the files are distributed to correction centers spread across Lebanon. In the sixth stage, the exams are corrected by the teachers present at these centers, where each exam is corrected twice: the first teacher corrects it in red, then the second in green. In the seventh stage, the scores are entered into a computer, which automatically records the highest score for a student if the difference between the correctors does not exceed two points. If the difference exceeds two points, the exam is sent to a reviewer who assigns the final score, but the reviewer's score must be between the two scores given by the correctors. If it is lower or higher, the exam is sent to the head of the correction committee to assign the final score. In the eighth stage, after the correction is completed and scores entered into the computer, the exams return to the Exam Department in Bir Hassan. In the ninth stage, upon arrival at the Exam Department, the process of opening the exams begins. The tenth stage, referred to as AB, is named so because the process is repeated twice to avoid errors. After opening the exams, the computer matches the identification number with the student's name. Previously, the student's score was entered with the ID number in the regions, and this way, the student’s ID number, name, and score are now present in the ministry's computers. The eleventh and final stage is the issuance of results by the ministry after ensuring there are no errors. These stages, according to sources, require about 15 days after the conclusion of the exams. Therefore, it is expected that, with simple calculations, if things proceed smoothly, the results of the general baccalaureate will be issued within a week or ten days, and the results of the baccalaureate within two weeks.
