A Japanese woman abandoned her child after discovering that the sperm donor had deceived her about his nationality and educational background. The 30-year-old woman, who lives in Tokyo and is married with one child, filed a lawsuit against the sperm donor after learning he was Chinese, not Japanese, had not graduated from Kyoto University, and was married rather than single as he had claimed, according to the *Tokyo Shimbun*.
According to the British newspaper *Daily Mail* and *Russia Today*, the woman and her husband, who are parents to one child, met the man through social media in 2019 after deciding to have a child through a donor, since her partner was not unable to father children but carried a hereditary condition that could be passed on.
*Tokyo Shimbun* reported that the child was handed over to a childcare facility in Japan's capital and put up for adoption after birth, while the couple is suing for £2 million in damages from the donor for fraud and emotional distress. The woman stated that she took legal action to prevent the donor from targeting and deceiving others.
The victim’s lawyer confirmed that her client has suffered from sleep disturbances and experienced physical and emotional trauma due to the case, particularly from the backlash following her decision to abandon the child.
