Strict Restrictions from Google: 4 Tricks to Benefit from Call Recording

Google has limited call recording applications on Android devices in recent years, implementing various obstacles that prevent users from benefiting from this feature. Recently, Google made a new decision regarding this matter by announcing the cancellation of Accessibility API permissions for call recording apps. This action follows Google's prevention of recording apps from using the microphone on Android devices, a restriction that recent apps have circumvented by using an API that allows them to access the device, enabling the recording of phone conversations.

According to a report published by "lifehacker," this decision is set to take effect starting May 11, which means users can still utilize third-party options until that date. To avoid this issue, the report outlines 4 tricks that enable Android users to record calls as follows:

- Check if the default dialer app on your phone includes a recording feature. Google allows pre-installed first-party dialer apps to record calls, and this will not change on May 11. These apps have access to the audio source of the phone call, which is not available to all other apps. Access to the audio source is available through Google Pixel devices and Xiaomi phones.

If you own a Google Pixel, make sure that this feature is supported in your region, as some countries, like the United States, that support this feature may still have restrictions against call recording. If your phone's "Dialer" app does not have this feature, or if you live in a country where the feature is not available, you'll need to resort to another solution: make your calls on speakerphone and set up another device to record from there.

The more complex option is available if you have the ability to record directly on your phone through a process known as "rooting the Android device." This process allows access to systems that you normally cannot access, enabling apps like call recorders to bypass the restrictions that Google usually enforces. However, some recording apps might still not work even if they detect root access.

If the previous attempts fail, the only viable method to record phone calls directly on an Android device may be to download the "Call Recorder" application.
