Twitter has reversed its previous policy against misinformation and falsehoods concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. The change was announced in an online update to the social media platform's rules. This development follows the acquisition of the platform by entrepreneur Elon Musk, who has posted misleading claims about "COVID-19" on Twitter. The platform implemented its COVID-19 misinformation policy in early 2020, and since then, it has suspended more than 11,000 accounts and removed nearly 100,000 posts that it deemed harmful.
