French Police Arrest 120 People Over "Pension Law"

Late Thursday night, protesters set fire to tires in the streets of Paris as they attempted to reach the presidential office, while police continued to use tear gas to disperse demonstrators in Place de la Concorde in Paris. Reports indicate that around 73 protesters were arrested. Approximately 6,000 people gathered to block a bus station in Place de la Concorde in the latest confrontation between authorities and unions over pension reforms. The protests, which have entered their twenty-ninth day, are the longest in the country since 1968. No immediate comment was made by the Paris police. The unions have called for further demonstrations next Thursday.
