The Moroccan national football team has taken a step closer to the Round of 16 by defeating Belgium 2-0 at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, in the opening of the second round of Group F matches in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Morocco owes its first win of the current edition and its third in history to substitutes, midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri from Italian Sampdoria (73) and forward Zakaria Aboukhlal from French Toulouse (90+2). This victory has temporarily placed Morocco at the top of the group with four points, one point ahead of Belgium and three points ahead of Croatia, which is set to face Canada later.
