Are Urgent Matters Just a Matter of Perspective?

The invitation by caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to hold a Cabinet session tomorrow, Monday, has faced rejection from some parliamentary blocs, most notably the "Strong Lebanon" bloc, which accused Mikati of usurping the powers of the President of the Republic. Political sources expressed surprise at how this group has been obstructing the presidential elections for three months, prolonging the presidential vacancy by opting for a blank ballot, thus intensifying political divisions and reshuffling existing alliances. They questioned, "Does all this preserve the powers of the President of the Republic?"

In a statement to the "Anbaa" electronic newspaper, they inquired whether urgent matters concerning the survival of Lebanese citizens have become mere perspectives, and how long they expect this impoverished and oppressed population to wait, allowing their issues to remain unresolved until a President is elected or a government is formed. They also asked why this group or any other hasn't prioritized the election of a President above all else.
