Miss USA Wins Miss Universe Title

Miss USA, R'Bonney Gabriel, was crowned Miss Universe at a ceremony held in New Orleans, southern United States, on Saturday night. Gabriel, of Filipino descent, took to the stage in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant this week wearing a "moon costume," celebrating the anniversary of the first landing of American astronauts on the moon in 1969. Five contestants advanced to the TOP 5 in the 71st Miss Universe competition, all from countries in the western hemisphere: Venezuela, the United States, Puerto Rico, Curaçao, and the Dominican Republic. Russian contestant Anna Linnikova (22), who was crowned "Miss Russia - 2022," and Ukrainian contestant Victoria Abanasenko were eliminated from the competition without advancing to the semifinals.
