Arrest of Car Theft Gang Leader in a Qualitative Operation

On February 23, 2023, members of the Office for Combating International Theft Crimes in the Judicial Police Unit managed to arrest a man known as (M.S.), who is the leader of a car theft gang with a record of over forty stolen vehicles. The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division released the following statement: "As a result of surveillance and monitoring operations related to car thefts in various Lebanese regions, members of the Office for Combating International Theft Crimes in the Judicial Police Unit carried out a qualitative operation in the town of Tamnin in the Beqaa region, leading to the arrest of M.S. (born in 1979, Lebanese). He was found in possession of a military weapon, and a stolen Honda CRV was also recovered from him. During the investigation, he confessed to leading a gang that stole over 40 modern vehicles from different areas. The seized vehicle has been returned to its owner, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the gang under the supervision of the competent judiciary."
