Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that NATO may draw a new "defense line" for itself in the South China Sea in the near future. During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Lavrov stated, "They announced that NATO is committed to the security of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, which means that NATO's next defense line will run through the South China Sea... I have no doubt about it."
