Britain Urges China to Pressure Russia to Withdraw from Ukraine

A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized today, Friday, that Chinese President Xi Jinping should use his visit to Moscow to encourage President Vladimir Putin to withdraw Russian troops from Ukraine. The spokesperson, during a conversation with journalists, noted that "if China wants to play a serious role in restoring Ukraine's sovereignty, we would certainly welcome that." He added, "We see that any agreement not based on Ukraine's sovereignty and its right to self-determination is not a peace agreement in any way. Therefore, we will continue to call on China, as we have previously, to join other countries around the world in urging Putin to withdraw his forces."
