Haluk Ozer, director of the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Turkey, revealed that the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş could trigger a tsunami in the Mediterranean Sea. In an interview with the American network CNN, Ozer stated, "We are facing the largest damage caused by an earthquake in this region since 1999." He also pointed out that aftershocks are expected to continue for months, possibly lasting up to a year, and warned that the earthquake could cause tsunami waves in the Mediterranean region, informing 14 countries about this risk.
