Egyptian Meteorological Authority Warns of Dangerous Weather Phenomenon

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has issued a statement clarifying a serious phenomenon affecting road traffic. The authority stated that fog, or water vapor, is a natural occurrence where low clouds form near the surface of the earth due to the condensation of water vapor close to the ground. The presence of dust, smoke, and various impurities in the atmosphere contributes to its formation, especially during late-night hours or early morning.

The authority added that fog forms as a result of high humidity levels, relative calmness of the winds, lower surface temperatures, and the presence of a high-pressure system. The difference between fog and mist lies in the horizontal visibility level; fog has a horizontal visibility of less than 1000 meters, while mist has a visibility level of 1000 meters or more.

Fog or mist is considered one of the most dangerous weather phenomena affecting road traffic, as well as air and maritime navigation, as it reduces horizontal visibility, potentially leading to accidents.
