China announced that the worst is over in its battle against COVID-19, just ahead of what is expected to be one of the busiest travel days in years on Friday, amid a significant movement of people that raises concerns about another rise in infection numbers. State media reported Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chunlan, who oversees the COVID-19 response efforts, stating that the virus is currently at a "relatively low" level, following comments from health officials that the number of COVID patients in clinics, emergency rooms, and critical cases has peaked.
