Authorities in the Solomon Islands stated that no tsunami warning will be issued following two earthquakes, one of which had a magnitude of 7.0 off the southwestern coast. The U.S. Geological Survey announced that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 15 kilometers, approximately 16 kilometers southwest of the Malango area. Initially, the agency had rated the earthquake's magnitude at 7.3. A previous U.S. tsunami warning has been lifted. Another earthquake, measuring six degrees, occurred in a nearby area about 30 minutes later.
