U.S. officials are investigating an explosion and fire at a chemical plant in a Houston suburb that injured at least one person. Local news reports showed a large fireball at the plant, releasing significant columns of black smoke. It appears that the fire has since been extinguished. Authorities briefly closed nearby roads but later reopened them. The facility is owned by INEOS Phenol and produces an organic compound used in making a variety of products, including herbicides, insecticides, cleaning products, and automotive parts.
