French star Karim Benzema has announced his retirement from international football after coach Didier Deschamps denied him the opportunity to attend the World Cup final between Argentina and France to support his national team at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Benzema stated via Twitter on Monday that he "made the effort and mistakes to reach what I am today, and I am proud of that; I wrote my story and our endings." Benzema left the French national team camp due to thigh muscle pain, and the relationship between the Real Madrid forward and Deschamps deteriorated, leading to a breakup. Although Benzema was ready to do everything possible to be available at the end of the first round, the French coaching staff did not want to keep him and expelled him from the camp.
