A senior Vatican source mentioned today, Sunday, that Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega ordered the closure of the Vatican embassy in Managua and his country's embassy to the Vatican. Nicaragua took this step after a few days of Pope Francis describing its government as dictatorial during an interview before the tenth anniversary of his election, which coincides with tomorrow, Monday. The source stated that although the closure of the embassies does not mean a complete severance of relations between Managua and the Vatican, it represents serious steps toward that possibility.
